1 Overview
Meadows ("we", "our", "the App") is a focus and habit tracking application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.
2 What data we collect
Here is a complete summary of data collected by Meadows:
| Data | Where stored | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Tasks, tags, sessions, coins, animals, habitat | On device | Core app functionality |
| Display name | On device | Personalisation |
| Profile picture (from your gallery) | On device | Personalisation |
| App preferences and settings | On device | Remembering your choices |
| Randomly generated device UUID | On device | Identifying your local data |
| Anonymous crash reports and error logs | Sentry servers | Fixing bugs and improving stability |
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or any other personally identifying information.
3 Data stored on your device
All app data — including your tasks, focus sessions, tags, coins, animals, and habitat — is stored locally in a SQLite database on your device using PowerSync. This data:
- Does not leave your device
- Is not backed up to our servers
- Is not accessible to us
- Is deleted when you uninstall the App or use the in-app reset function
4 Crash reporting (Sentry)
We use Sentry (sentry.io) to automatically detect and report crashes and errors. This helps us identify and fix bugs quickly.
Sentry may collect the following when a crash or error occurs:
- The type of error and the stack trace (technical code path)
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- A randomly generated anonymous identifier (see Section 6)
- Performance timing data
Sentry does not collect:
- Your display name or any content you enter
- Your profile picture
- Your tasks, sessions, or any app data
- Your location
5 Gallery access
The App requests permission to access your device's photo gallery solely to allow you to set a profile picture. Specifically:
- We access the gallery only when you explicitly tap to change your profile picture
- The selected image is copied and stored locally on your device within the App's private storage
- The image is never uploaded to any server
- We do not scan, analyse, or access any other images in your gallery
You can revoke gallery permission at any time through your device's Settings. Revoking permission will prevent you from changing your profile picture but will not affect any previously selected picture.
6 Device identifiers
Meadows generates a random UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) when the App is first installed. This identifier:
- Is randomly generated — it is not tied to your device hardware, name, or any personal information
- Is used to link your local data records together within the App
- Is shared with Sentry as an anonymous session identifier to help group crash reports from the same installation
- Is reset if you clear the app data or reinstall the App
7 Children's privacy
Meadows is designed for users of all ages, including children. We take children's privacy seriously:
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
- The only data that leaves the device is anonymous crash data sent to Sentry — this contains no personal information
- We do not use data for advertising or profiling
- Parents or guardians may contact us at any time to ask questions about the data their child's device may have shared
If you believe a child has used the App without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will address your concern.
8 Data retention
Local data — stored on your device indefinitely until you uninstall the App, clear app data, or use the in-app reset function.
Sentry crash data — retained by Sentry according to their data retention policy (typically 90 days). We do not control this retention period. Please refer to Sentry's privacy policy for details.
We do not retain any personal data on our own servers because we do not collect any.
9 Your rights
Because all your app data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it:
- Access — all your data is visible within the App
- Deletion — you can delete individual items within the App, or reset all data using the in-app reset function, or uninstall the App
- Portability — your data is on your device; you control it
For any questions about Sentry's data (anonymous crash reports), you may contact us and we will do our best to assist, or contact Sentry directly.
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under GDPR, California under CCPA), you may have additional rights. Please contact us if you wish to exercise these rights.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify you within the App before the new policy takes effect.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
